Surlingham House Extension
Client Brief
Where an old conservatory once stood, this beautiful timber-framed extension now stands in its place.
Our client was looking for a stylish extension to replace their tired conservatory. They wanted plenty of light and to make the most of their views. The extension was a unique shape, stepping the sliding window out into the garden, meaning they could create a bench and storage below the window, really making it feel like you are bringing the outside inside. With the addition of two large skylights, the whole extension has a bright, warm and modern feeling.

Challenges & Solutions
-
Upon removing the old conservatory we found that an existing live manhole had been concreted and tiled over. We discussed with the building control officer, replaced the cracked pipework and fitted a new sealed chamber which is now accessible beneath the carpet.
